<hi style=afpcap>The US Air Force began placing contracts for the Cessna U-17 Skywagon in 1963, although strangely these were all for export under the US Military Assistance Programme with none being operated by the USAF itself. Amongst the recipients were nations in South East Asia, Latin America and south eastern Europe. Approximately half were to U-17A standard with 262 examples purchased, followed by 205 U-17Bs and seven U-17Cs. The major difference between the latter two was the fitment of a different engine. </hi>
